Feelin' Spotty

Feelin' Spotty

My latest fashion-y desire? A leopard print skirt. Either pencil-shaped or a miniskirt. I don't know why, but I so want to pair one with black tights for the upcoming season. Done right, I think a leopard print skirt can look classy 'n sassy, but it's easy to wear the skirt in a way that will make you look decidedly trashy. I scoured the internet for non-trashy examples of how to wear the skirt - they were pretty hard to find, to tell you the truth - and here's what I came up with:

The last two examples are from Hot Topic and Urban Outfitters, but I think they're over-priced, so I'm gonna have to keep looking for my skirt. As for styling, don't you think that top picture is fantastic? I am so lovin' it.

Bring on the spots! Me-WOW!

The Latest Sexy Unisex Fragrance From Ulrich Lang!!

The Latest Sexy Unisex Fragrance From Ulrich Lang!!
I have been aware of Ulrich Lang New York for a long time. This niche fragrance brand created by Lang is part European, part metropolitan New York . His first fragrance launch was Anvers- which I liked quite a bit but perhaps because of its unique notes and blend, I wasn't quite "ready" for it. Fragrance is often a choice based on the time of your life as well as how it smells on you (which is also based on body chemistry for a certain time of your life) . It was a lot of fragrance that came out in "different tones or notes at different times."
Recently Lang launched another scent- Anvers 2-. This luscious scent is different from the first and most assuredly light, subtle yet packs a subtle but distinct wallop when it comes to a "slow burn" in terms of sex appeal. While it's warm and sexy, it's light enough at the opening and heart that almost any man would love to wear this as it's not overwhelming -but a woman might love this one so much, she just might steal it. ( I did!)

Perfect for the man who is extremely confident with a distinct sense of self and knows what he wants, how to get it and how (and when) to share. He's not overbearing but intelligent; strong and gentle at the same time; sophisticated with an open-ness that is engaging. (My sort of man actually). It's so clean, fresh and yet potent, that it's perfect for a woman too so watch out because some female just might steal it.

Notes:
TOP: Bergamot, lime, lemon, black pepper, rhubarb, cypress
HEART: Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Lily, Mimosa, Blond Woods (cedarwood, sandalwood), vetiver
BASE: Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Musk, Amber, Olibanum and Oakmoss.
It's a subtle blend, opening slowly like a lovely melody with notes chiming in creating a lovely and luscious symphony of fragrance that wears nicely down to soft essences. Think of it as a soft whisper in your ear or a melody running through your head that you can't get rid of -because you like it so much. It's highly addictive!! The packaging is just like the fragrance- stunning!

Where to find this lovely scent? Check the Ulrich Lang New York website and also Luckyscent.com if you can't wait. (tell them I sent you. I left a review there- that's how much I love this fragrance. )

Tired of Bootie-Hunting Yet?

Tired of Bootie-Hunting Yet?

Yeah, me neither. I've been searching for affordable, fun fall/winter booties like some kind of shoe-crazed bounty hunter. I can't bring myself to look at any summer footwear, hence the fall-related posts of late, and for some reason I can't get high-heeled brogues, oxfords, etc. out of my head. Here are some more finds:

1. Justine heels, $64 Emma Pink How fun are these? They come in pale green, black, and dark chocolate.

2. Parker heels, $39 Mia Shoes Not available till September, but look how nice and glossy and old-fashioned they are.

3. Harlow heels, $39.99 Oh Deer I didn't like these at first, but they're totally growing on me. They come in cream, dark brown, and blue denim, and they've been marked down from $130. Bargain alert!

4. Tribeca heels, $72.95 Zappos Classic and perfect. These also come in brown.

I'm crushing on all of these right now, but chances are that #1 is the only pair I can walk in....

Janis Lives!

Janis Lives!
I recieved some sort of magazine called Fashion Rocks in my mailbox yesterday. It had a lot of great stuff, but I especially loved an editorial called "Janis Lives!" about Janis Joplin's unique style. It didn't seem to be available online, so I used my crappy scanner to scan a couple of the pictures for you guys. Hence the slightly blurry pictures. But it's great, right? The timing's perfect, because recently colored faux fur coats have been sent down the runway, and it's nice to know how to wear them if you're brave enough, which sadly I'm not. I can still appreciate the wonderfulness of Joplin's style, however, and now you can too. Click on the pictures to view a bigger version, although the first picture can't be enlarged for some unknown reason.

Gwen Stefani to cover up for Malaysia show

Gwen Stefani to cover up for Malaysia show
There will be no revealing costumes at U.S. singer Gwen Stefani's concert in Malaysia this month, a newspaper said on Saturday, after a Muslim student group demanded that the event be cancelled as being too obscene.

Although Malaysia is a moderate Muslim country with sizeable non-Muslim minorities, conservative groups often frown upon departures from strict Koranic injunctions.

Malaysian mobile phone firm Maxis Communications, which is promoting the August 21 show as part of Stefani's "Sweet Escape" tour, promised it would feature no revealing costumes, the Star newspaper said.

"She will abide by the Malaysian authorities' guidelines to ensure that her show will not be offensive to local sensibilities," it quoted a Maxis statement as saying.

Malaysia's official guide for performers says women must be covered from the top of the bosom to the knees, the Star said.

Jumping, shouting and the throwing of objects are barred, while performers may not hug, kiss or wear clothes with obscene or drug-related pictures or slogans, it added.

On Tuesday, an official of the 10,000-strong National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students said Stefani's video promotion clips were obscene and the event would clash with local Asian and Islamic values.

"We want the organizers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene," said Mohamad Hilmi Ramli, the group's president.

Ethnic Malays, who are by definition Muslims, make up just over half of Malaysia's 26 million people, while ethnic Chinese and Indians, who are mostly Buddhists, Christians or Hindus, account for most of the rest.

Paris Hilton to Teach a Personal Branding Seminar

Paris Hilton to Teach a Personal Branding Seminar

Paris Hilton got a boot from her grandpas $60 million inheritance, but who cares? There is no scarcity of highly paid offers for her. Most recently, Paris was offered the sum of $1 million dollars by The Learning Annex to teach a one-hour class on How to Build Your Brand. If Paris accepts the offer, she will be the second highest paid speaker by the company, next to Donald Trump, who was paid $1.5 million in the past.

President Bill Zanker stated,

We just sent over the offer to her this morning, and I think theres a good chance shed do it.

No doubt, Paris Hilton is famous at birth who broke into the media from a sex tape called One Night in Paris. But do you think that she knows anything about the subject and acquire the skill to communicate intelligently enough? Certainly not. Moreover, this brand isnt acceptable by the public, so paying $1 million to Paris Hilton could be Learning Annexs biggest blunder.

I guess Learning Annex considers her brilliant enough to impart their message effectively. Who knows, she might actually be brilliant!

Fashion trends 2007: royal blue

Fashion trends 2007: royal blue
Blue is one of the favorite colors this season, and only a real fashionista will know the exact shade to pick. Here's a hint: the bluer the better, so stay away from navy and pale blue, go for almost electric (ultra) blue if you can get your hands on it.

Royal blue dress - You must have a closet full of special occasion dresses, and I can bet they are black, white or red. It's time to update your going out wardrobe with a moment's it color. Tadashi sapphire blue dress at Bluefly for $168

Royal blue jacket - I hear there's a weather change on the way, so this one might come in handy. Available in special sizes - which we love! a.n.a. curdroy teal jacket at JCPenny for $30

Royal blue jumpsuit - Sport's chic is in this season, and this item looks good enough to wear with flats for the day and heels for the night out. Helena Christiansen cropped jumpsuit at Asos for $38

Royal blue shoes - Ballerinas or flats are more popular than ever, which gives you the right to look down on anyone wearing a plain black pump. Pretty Ballerinas Audrey studded for $129

Royal blue bangle - Loving bangles this summer! Especially the ones with a lot of bling, and in unusual shapes. Kenneth Jay Lane oval crystal bangle at Intermix for $75
