Home Based Business Selling Cosmetics
Selling cosmetics is a personal business that millions of women worldwide have already taken up. As a matter of fact, Avon, one of the world's leading cosmetics companies, even gave rise to a new form of personal marketing that spread out far beyond its original intended parameters - namely, multi level marketing - and has been adopted by hundreds of other companies. Getting started in selling cosmetics from home is a great way for housewives to supplement their income while at the same time working with a product that they already know and use on a daily basis.
Getting Started
Getting started in selling cosmetics is a really simple process. The first thing you need to do is decide on which company's products you want to endorse. It has to be one that you personally use or are willing to try out. Naturally, you can't sell something effectively if you don't have faith in it. Once you do, contact these companies and see if they have a home sales program for women willing to become their marketing representatives. Some companies even offer referral systems which can make you money from more than just your personal sales.

Sometimes It's Worth It to Pay
Recently I bought the best pair of shoes in my life. They are the Clarks Escalade, and they are pictured above. For a while I had been looking for a brown shoe that wasn't super dressy but wasn't super casual. Something that could go with jeans on a fairly regular basis but could also go with khakis or other outfits that were a bit dressy without being suit-and-tie. This pair of Clarks completely fits the bill. I've been getting compliments on them left and right. I'm tempted to buy a pair in black.
They cost $93.95.
Depending on whether you are a clothes horse or whether you only shop for what's on sale, you might say "Yeah, so?" or "Are you kidding me? 93 bucks for a pair of casual shoes?"
For most of my life I've been in the latter camp, always trying to find a deal, buying the cheaper thing even if it's not what I really want or need, thinking it's good enough. Many a time I have bought a cheap pair of shoes or shirts end of season, not being able to resist the discount off of the regular price. Problem is, I usually didn't really want those things all that bad; it just seemed a shame to let the deal go by. And it's just clothes; it doesn't really matter.
But when I get dressed I like to feel good about how I look. And there's nothing worse than looking in the mirror and seeing a shirt or pants or shoes that are sort of stylish but not quite, that look not so bad but not so good either, that hang just a little funny. But worse is the inevitable fact that these items will soon hit the closet, only to be removed on desperate occasions when I've run out of clean clothes. (Or, in the case of shoes, when I have some dirty task to accomplish and don't want to ruin the shoes I actually like.) Once this happens, your deal is no deal, because you've spent money on something you either don't wear, or that you wear unhappily.
These new Clarks of mine are one of the few times I've been able to break out of my normal mindset and just buy what I want at a price I don't want to pay but know will not seem so bad in the future when I wear the things until they split into pieces.
I have no advice for you on this matter (other than you might want to buy a pair of those Clarks if you're a guy). It's simply a reminder to myself that sometimes paying more is worth it, and that sometimes buying cheap is buying stupid.

Roberto Cavalli Floral Bangle
I love big bold bangles, especially in brightly hued colors! If you can not get into the ''80s color block trend, a bright blue bangle will update your black/brown/gray wardrobe and instantly lighten your day! Bracelet length jackets are also the rage this season, even better to show off this lovely bauble. Roberto Cavalli is the king of animal print frocks but I am more into his line of funky fashion jewels. Roberto Cavalli Floral engraved bangle $315 at Net-a-porter.

Holiday Gifts Under $50
I love shopping, whether for me or for someone else, as long as it''s for something fun. I think gifts are one of the most delightful things to shop for, because the sole purpose of the shopping trip (or online spree) is to bring someone else joy. How warm ''n fuzzy is that?! Anyway, here are some cheap gifts that are sure to delight almost anyone on your list:
♥ Right now I''m totally thrilled with the idea of picking out some glorious fashion pictures from
That''s the end of the gift ideas for now, but I might do another post as the holiday season gets closer.

Lipstick propaganda
A while back, I was taken with the design of the refillable Titan lipsticks with casings that look like bullets, from Mojo Cosmetics. Since that original post, Mojo has re-designed their site, with a whimsical (though maybe not politically correct) military theme, including an area called "propaganda" with 1940s-stye photos of busty women dressed up in uniforms, and period music playing in the background.
There''s one new product since I last looked - the Platinum, which can be put on over lipstick (especially good for preventing dry lips in the winter). It''s made of hydrating botanicals and restores collagen, for just $12 (and like their lipsticks, no animal testing involved). The "full monty" includes one of these plus a Titan lipstick with casing, for $42.
More of their propaganda after the jump.

Happy Robot Bag: Makes strangers smile
Ready to retire your bland black laptop bag? Looking for a great gift for the vegan-tech-lover in your life? Consider Shana Logic''s Happy RobotBag . Made from sturdy double lined black vinyl (animal-friendly) with an adjustable canvas strap, flat bottomed for extra room and lined with durable black fabric, you''ll be pleased with its quality. The front flap features the silly smiling metallic silver robot stitched applique. Both the front flap and side pockets have reinforced magnetic closures. Got gadgets? There are plenty of pockets for your cell phone, abacus, and camera.
The only downside is that there''s no protective padding, so you''ll need to pack your laptop in a padded sleeve, just in case you find yourself tumbling down a flight of stairs into the subway, or hanging out a window from the 10th floor of your office. Regardless, you''ll find strangers smiling as they catch that robot from the corner of their eyes.
Price: $80 at Shanalogic.com.
