She"s not a celebrity per se but men"s magazine model Amber Rose has been getting a lot of attention since she hooked up with Kanye West and received a complete image makeover in the process.

Here she wears two pieces from Alexander McQueen"s 2009 resort line. While I think the clutch is a bit of overkill, I do like the look overall. I just think it"s fun and with the weather still dreary where I live, it"s nice to see a little (okay, a lot) of color mixed in with basic black. This ensemble literally screams "look at the arm candy!"

I also admit to being a sucker for women with super short hair. I love a baldie.

Sorta African ELLE

Africa is everywhere in the collections of many designers this season. It seems like every other page in this month"s Elle magazine is layered with influence of the motherland. Model Christy Turlington wears a Ndebele style ring necklace* in current Escada ads while other designers like Max Osterweis and Junya Watanabe, reference African inspired textiles on the runway.

Elle also lauds Frenchwoman Lydia Courteille"s turn to to a more "primitive style for spring" in the jewelry news section. The artists "African" collection features mask rings that mimic African busts and sculpture, combining them with precious jewels like turquoise, diamonds and pearls. Says Courteille, "It"s incredible that now the trend in fashion is Africa, because I"ve been working on this idea for two or three years."

Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick: RD-305

Tester: Multi-ethnic (Indian/British) about Frieda Pinto"s complexion with lightly pigmented lips.

"Reds can be tricky, reds can be overpowing -- red lipstick shades can even be intimidating for many women.

So we took on our own blogger team challenge of finding a nice red for the spring that many of you would enjoy (and would look smashing too!).

This is it.

RD-305 is a chic, cool red. The pigments were very high, but it"s a medium/sheer finish with a natural looking shine effect. It was very smooth and silky. Because of the high Macadamia Seed Oil content it was incredibly moisturizing as well. The feel of the lipstick was light on my lips. The case itself was also really unique with it"s faceted sides. A beautiful and luxurious design that I loved looking at and having in my collection.

The staying power is average (I did have to apply after drinks, eating), but this is not a long lasting lipstick formula so I didn"t hold that against it. This is a soft focused red that"s not too cool and looked great on many of our testers from Luicy Liu and Paula Abdul ranges to those in the Gabrielle Union range.
