How Much Do Your Clothes Cost Per Wearing?
I have never purchased a tuxedo because I would rarely wear a tuxedo and thus it makes more sense to rent one on the rare occasions when needed. And, yes, I might consider other clothing purchases by saying to myself, "how often are you really going to wear that?" However, I have never calculated out the per-wear cost of any of the items I own or that I might purchase.
J.D. is different:
At first, I wasn't going to buy another pair. When I do the math, I figure I've paid four cents for every time I've worn them. What are the odds that I can find zip-off pants in my size for $6 again? A new pair costs $55. I'd need to wear them every summer for the next 25 years to get the same sort of value out of a them!
I was going to leave it at that, too, before I realized I was being ridiculous. I wear these pants all the time. Even if I only get five years of use from a new pair, I'll only be paying $10 a year, or about twenty cents a use.
By the way, the title of J.D.'s post is "Crossing the Line from Frugal to Cheap." However, his point seems to be that shying away from buying a new, more expensive pair of pants when he knows he'll get plenty of use out of them is where he's crossed the line---he seems completely oblivious to the fact that that calculating the per-use cost of the pants is where he's really lost it.
Am I right? Or is everyone but me crunching the numbers to calculate which articles of your clothing are most cost-effective?
J.D., I kid. You da man, and the rest of us are fighting for second place.

When ART Meets Jewelry
You may not have heard of Ananda Khalsa Jewelry. You may not have seen her work till now,
www.Anandakhalsa.com. Her phenomenal work is breathtaking to behold because each piece isn't just a piece of jewelry. It's much more than a ring, bracelet, necklace, pin, pendent or a pair of earrings. Each is a unique piece of art that is hand painted images done on paper set behind hand ground glass and set in sterling or fine silver. Often the pieces are been further embellished with semi-precious stones and high karat gold- making them even more ornate yet entirely streamlined. Every piece features an hand-mark on the reverse side indicating that handiwork of Ananda Khalsa.
The artwork itself is done by Khalsa and is inspired by natural plant and animals that are symbolic images known and used in many cultures going back for centuries. Each image has a special significance and it's symbolism is explained on the website.
These stunning tiny pieces of artwork become more precious over time and seem to feel more like heirlooms to be handed down from generation to generation. Each one is created individually and so is a unique piece of art- perhaps similar to another of the same style but still with unique details.

Japengo Caf: Fusion, Style, Cuisine
Japengo Caf had lunched this print advertisement campaign to promote its brand name and expand consumer base in Dubai. The campaign aims at emphasizing on the delicious cuisines and fusion for what the caf is considered famous. However, looking at the campaign closely, it reflects that it is laying much focus on fusion of cuisines. The advertisements are showing models with different cuisines and the attire of the models is in accordance with the cuisine they are displaying.
The colorful and impressive presentation of the advertisements has undoubtedly produced a visually compelling campaign. The art direction of the campaign is of course fantastic, enough to leave imprint on people’s mind. Moreover, the use of Japanese character in the background gives impression that it is essentially a Japanese caf. The copy of the campaign is however, not impressive here that reads, ‘Fusion o Style o Cuisine, Palm. Strip Mall, Sheikh Zayed Rd. Madinat Jumeirah, Wafi Mall’. The campaign was developed by Intermarkets, Dubai, UAE.

Fashion trends: Floral apparel
I always loved women who knew how to wear floral prints and embroidery; they always looked more feminine, subtle and nice. Also, roses on our skirts make us forget about rain, snow and wind outside and concentrate on spring which is hopefully soon to come.
So, once again, forget about your black, navy and gray suits and put something flowery on! Not only because it's fashionable, but because we are so sure of our professional success we don't have to power-dress.
Floral jacket - Alberto Makali Applique Velvet Jacket is a simple way to try out the florals in your wardrobe. Velvet is the fabric of choice this winter, you can't go wrong. Available at Nordstrom for $99
Floral skirt - BCBGMAXAZRIA mahogany floral chiffon skirt looks so great it would be a shame to wear it only to work. Imagine, just the perfect skirt for all the posh lunches you have to go to. Available at Bluefly for $84
Floral set - Although I'm not a big fan of sets, this one looks great enough to get you over a 'nothing to wear day'. Love the color combo - minty green and brown. The cardigan can also be worn over something else - say a black tee. Available at JCPenny for $69
Floral flats - Pretty Ballerinas always come up with the most exquisite designs, and these Princess lats are no different. If you don't want any florals on your clothing, how about a rose on your shoe? Available at Pretty Ballerinas for $99

VLCC: Drop Excess Baggage
This is an interesting print advertisement campaign launched by India’s leading beauty and fitness company VLCC to promote their weight loss program. The campaign is apparently aims at conveying by adjusting a part of the ingredients of the meals one could be able to reduce weight. The advertisements are showing some edible items are being shaped as accessories in order to show that how by adjusting meals and taking them in right proportion could have positive effect on a body.
The presentation of the campaign is certainly indicative in nature but it successfully conveys its message across. There is also remarkable touch of a fine art direction and retouching. The text of the advertisement reads, ‘Drop Excess Baggage - We evaluate your gender, age, lifestyle and your ethnic background before formulating a scientific slimming plan. Our dieticians, nutrition & slimming experts, physiotherapists & therapeutic specialists ensure that you shed those extra pounds. - VLCC Slimming, Skin & Hair Services’.

Many fashion-conscious ladies find it hard to accessorize with the latest technological accessory. Now geek meets chic with this Pixel Watch.
This watch comes with a polycarbonate strap that displays not only the time and date, but other little animations between 9 pm and 3 am. Don't ask me why those specific times, I'm just quoting what my sources tell me.
You can purchase this lovely little Pixel Watch at Red5.co.uk or Ebay for a little under $90 USD.

Digital Camera in a Locket: Kodak 1881
People have always liked carrying around photographs with them. One way of doing this is by getting a picture embossed in a locket and keeping it close to your heart. These lockets have long remained a monopoly of the white haired class of populace.
Lindsey Pickett seeks to change all that with the concept of a digital camera fitted in a pocket locket.
Kodak 1881 is a pocket locket that gives a brand new hi-tech treatment to an outdated fashion accessory.
Lindsey has added an integrated camera lens on the lockets exterior and fitted its interior with two LCD displays. These displays are designed to showcase your favorite photographs (aka your memories.)
Just aim and tap the locket to capture or open the locket for a precise photo composition. There are side panels to navigate through menu and photographs stored in its integrated memory.
Kodak 1881 is still in a conceptual stage, but wait till its mass production starts. I am sure it will be one of the most fashionable gadgets around.

Video Watch
I think we all knew the day would come when we could watch TV on our wristwatch (although most would opt for the remote).
The screen is only 1.5 inches (128 x 128 pixels), but it has MP3/WMA playback as well. It even has a voice recorder, and 2GB storage capacity. Unlike a regular watch, you need to recharge it, for about 7 hours worth of play time.
I think I've seen this watch available before, and now it is available for around $100 at ThinkGeek.
