Cool or not cool: force feedback gaming vests

Cool or not cool: force feedback gaming vests

I can''t decide whether I would enjoy the sensation provided by the force feedback gaming vest or get totally annoyed by the constant thumping sensation every time I got hit/shot during the game (I tend to get hit/shot a lot). I guess the only way to find out would be to try the vest first-hand, and after reading its description I most certainly will. Even if my unskilled playing causes me a lot of suffering, I think the device has the potential to make for an enhanced gaming experience. Try and imagine the chill down the spine after feeling a tapping sensation on your shoulder while playing a scary game.

The force feedback vest was initially created for remote medical investigation and was later modified and converted into a gaming device:

Physician Mark Ombrellaro designed the TN Games 3rd Space vest, which uses air pressure to produce thumping sensations wherever impact should be felt. The vest has eight zones which can simulate the direction and forces of bullet fire, explosions, and even the sensation of fingers tapping on you (great for scary horror games).

The vest will be available in November for $189, and can be pre-ordered for a litmited time from the TN Games onlie shop for $169.99. It will also be shipped as a bundle with 3rd Space Incursion and Call of Duty II.

MiniTISSUE: Just add water

MiniTISSUE: Just add water

If you've ever had those tiny capsule or "dehydrated" sponge toys as a kid (the ones that magically "grow" when you add a few drops of water to them), then you'll already be familiar with miniTISSUEs. Atrocious capitalization and irresponsible breath mint disguise aside, each individually wrapped miniTISSUE is actually a hydraulically compressed 8.6" x 9.8" lint-free cotton tissue.

The biodegradable "washcloth" not only comes to life but also fully decomposes with water, which sounds like washing up could turn into a race against time to me.

Will the tissue turn into mush in your hands? Find out 96 times for just $12.95.

Fashion Trivia

Fashion Trivia

You've just put on a cute dress, but your outfit needs something else. It need something fun, something that will bring it to the next level while keeping your legs toasty warm. What do you grab?

a) Black tights - they're classic and always in style
b) Fishnets - you're feeling shmexy
c) The above leggings from cutesy girl

Answer: C! Duuhhh. Black tights are very nice, but they lack the added punch of these leggings. They may be tacky, but they are delightfully so. The black ones on the left are my special lovers.

Sequins are here to stay

Sequins are here to stay

You know every season has an "It" item? Well, this year it is sequins, and lots of them. We are talking head to toe dresses, which can be very elegant if done right. But you can't wear them to the office right? Well, you could, but you might be a little over dressed. So, why not try a few sequins accessories to pair with yummy autumn colors. Think a gold scarf with eggplant and chocolate. Oooh, so pretty and rich.

Throw a little sparkle into your life with this sash. Add it to a simple black turtleneck and you have instant fashionista. Metallic Sequined Sash, Newport-News, $15 Feel like dropping a pretty penny on a bag? Try this one by Fendi. It screams sequin-licious. Fendi Large Sequin Spy Bag, $4890 at Neiman MarcusIf you really have your heart set on a full on sequin dress, go for a shorter one and pair it with opaque tights, usually black and black heels so that they blend in. Kenneth Cole Reaction Sequin Dress available at Macy's, $169A sequined shoe is the way I would go. They add just that little bit of sparkle to a fantastic outfit. Winter Coats Don't Have to Be Black

Winter Coats Don't Have to Be Black
I recieved an email that said:

"I'm looking for a winter coat. I'd love some color, which is proving difficult since apparently all winter coats must be black. I luuuuuuurve this one -

I hope that helps! Even though they're all from different stores, the coats are all reasonably priced and colorful enough to make you the brightest thing on the street.

Walk This Way

Walk This Way

I am excited.

My good old hometown of Boston (well, okay, I technically live in the Boston area) is finally stepping up to the plate fashion-wise!

After spending years wishing that some sort of fabulous fashion event would take place somewhere nearby, the Boston MFA is hosting an exhibit on shoes!

"While shoes serve a practical function by protecting our soles from the elements and hazards underfoot, they have also become highly ornamented objects of obsession. Whatever the materials or the cost, however, shoes always reflect the time and place in which they were made and worn and the culture that produced them. "Walk This Way," unlike any footwear exhibition in the past, places shoes—from ancient Egyptian and Nubian sandals to new acquisitions representing the best in contemporary design—throughout the MFA's galleries to illustrate their relationship to other works of art. These provocative juxtapositions provide insights into the history, ornamentation, and cultural importance of footwear. In this treasure hunt of an exhibition, visitors might find a pair of Venetian chopines next to a painting of the city by Canaletto, a woman's shoe from the late 1790s embroidered with neoclassical scrolling grape vines exhibited with an ancient statue of the Greek god Dionysus, or a pair of contemporary wedges with rococo carved heels from MIU MIU's most recent collection alongside eighteenth-century carved and gilt furniture."

I am so there!

More information can be found here. I have been feeling a bit more healthy lately (well enough to finally make it to school and the mall!), so I've been thinking that I need to take a trip into the city as sort of a test run for Teen Vogue's Fashion U. Perhaps this is a good excuse! I think the concept of the exhibit is quite brilliant.

Fancy Schmancy Cranium Warmers

Fancy Schmancy Cranium Warmers

As the cold weather comes closer and closer, I've been excitedly planning my winter/fall outerwear. Right now, I'm all about anything that will keep my head cozy and warm, while looking totally unique and stylish. Etsy, my friends, is the place to be. Check out what these shops have to offer our cranial areas (I actually listened in bio, har har):

Girl with a Hook:

I've actually been eyeing these sculptural lovelies for months. They are so gorgeous!

Pancho:

Loud and warm is how I like'em. This would look great with a t-shirt and/or bomber jacket.

April 51:

Ladylike with a vintage flair? Yes, please!
And yes, the doll creeps me out too.

Go forth and warm your heads in the name of the Etsy Goddess!

Lacey Bloomer Things

Lacey Bloomer Things

Lady Julianne did a post on wearing bloomers on their own, as opposed to underneath a dress, and it got me thinking. The idea appeals to me, but I have to admit that I think bloomers are really unflattering, and that I would probably never where them. However, these shorts from Asia Jam (also available in gold) give off a similar vibe, and I like them very much:

I can picture them over black tights, worn with a white collared shirt tucked in and black suspenders. Add some nerd glasses with thick black frames and some hot black ankle boots for my ideal winter girl-meets-boy look.

I admit it .... the shorts didn't appeal to me hugely until I thought of how I would wear them. I'm not sure whether I can pull them off, though.

But oh, the contrast of fairytale lace with an undergarment vibe paired with menswear! It is dancing around in my head, and it won't go away.

I'm glad I can dwell on this garment now, instead of on the fact that when I finally made up my mind to buy those combat boots, they were no longer available in my size. Screw being sensible - next time I will just buy, buy, buy without worrying about whether I would actually wear the things!
